Blancpain Ocean Commitment

The adoption of the Fifty Fathoms by ocean pioneers, explorers, marine scientists, underwater photographers and others forged strong links between Blancpain and those passionate about the ocean. Those ties have led Blancpain to devote itself to the cause of exploration, preservation and protection of the world’s oceans.

Not only has Blancpain aligned with those similarly motivated, it has taken a leadership role in supporting a broad range of environmental initiatives including the Pristine Seas Expeditions – where Blancpain was the Founding Partner and through its five years of support contributed to the creation of new marine protected areas covering more than four million square kilometers – Laurent Ballesta’s Gombessa Expeditions – likewise, where Blancpain was the Founding Partner – the Economist's World Ocean Initiative – with Blancpain as the Founding Supporter – the United Nations World Oceans Day and many more.

To date, Blancpain has co-financed 21 major scientific expeditions, celebrated its role in doubling the surface area of marine protected areas around the world, and presented several award-winning documentary films, underwater photography exhibitions and publications. This dedication to supporting ocean exploration and preservation is called Blancpain Ocean Commitment.
